Key Relationships

  • Collaborate closely with the Search Team across Amman, Damascus, and Beirut.
  • Coordinate with Forensics, A&E, Protection colleagues, and the Syria Missing Coordination Cell.
  • Engage externally with organizations managing relevant data repositories and stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support protection staff with documentation efforts and provide supplementary analysis of priority events to monitor trends.
  • Identify, verify, and analyze digital material including geolocation and source assessment to produce analytical outputs like incident reports, relational charts, and timelines.
  • Triangulate open source intelligence findings with internal case data and external forensic information to generate and validate leads.
  • Proactively identify and respond to leads on missing persons, advising on potential sources including electronic and social media, witnesses, telecommunications data, and archives.
  • Implement and advance open-source research methodologies, ensuring adherence to professional standards and ICRC NIIHA approach.
  • Monitor and analyze open-source information on missing persons and protection cases to provide updated analytical insights.
