Job Purpose

  • Provide high-quality resources and equipment to support students’ development of design and technology skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain equipment and resources required for design lessons.
  • Set up and supervise practical activities for students.
  • Maintain health and safety standards and ensure safe working practices in the workshop.
  • Assist teaching staff in lesson planning and activity implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to students during practical work.
  • Repair and maintain workshop equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment, materials, and stock levels.
  • Support development of new courses and resources for design and technology education.
  • Support and supervise students in extra-curricular activities like clubs and competitions.
  • Prepare purchase orders for workshop materials and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage within the workshop.
  • Dispose of waste appropriately, including recycling and hazardous materials.
  • Regularly inspect the workshop for hazards and maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with other design technicians to support student success.
  • Communicate constructively with students, parents, and external bodies as per school policies.
  • Attend school events, workshops, conferences, and department meetings.
  • Take photos of students during activities and product creation.
  • Supervise design competitions and follow up on related activities.
